I know if you are reading this you have your own reasons “why you run”. You have your own reasons why you vote, why you read this email, why you might attend a meeting, why you donate to causes and if you haven’t done those things and more yet, you have your own reasons why you want to do them.
This Is Why We Run
I have spent a career spanning over 40 years walking alongside courageous, strong determined people pushing past inequity, pushing past the scourge of poverty, pushing past the barriers that have challenged them. Whether young people leaving child protection care alone, young people and their families struggling to not succumb to mental health challenges, parents longing for supports for their children in need, Black and racialized youth worrying about why they are followed in a store by security, First Nation communities under the yoke of the legacy of residential schools boiling their water just to drink….They have walked in the bright light of their full potential. I have tried to be of support as best I could and yet I know that I have learned so much more than I have given.
Perhaps it is my own roots witnessing the challenges of my Mother and Father who provided for us despite their own challenges that directed me on my own journey. I decided early on that things were not fair for people like them and that somehow I would try to influence things to be different for others.
This is why I run. I can not unsee what I have witnessed. I can not remain silent and I must act.

I want you to see yourself in this campaign. It is long past time that you do. That is why I am asking you to join us in whatever way you can and choose to.
I have also witnessed close up how government works under a Conservative and Liberal government. I can tell you that without a doubt Conservatives are motivated by a messianic idolization of the dollar. Every decision first begins with how much does it cost not how will it benefit people. I can tell you without a doubt Liberal governments in their belief that they alone are destined to govern make every decision based upon their political fortunes. That’s why they often asked me “do you have a quick win for us?” when challenged with a problem
Now Liberals and maybe Conservatives are often good people. The Liberal and Conservative institutions they serve not so much. Im sure as JS Woodworth stated “what we desire for ourselves we desire for all” holds true for many. I call out to them to join us.
